HOW WE WORK

Review Methodology

Most slot reviews are rewritten press releases. Here's what we actually do differently — and why the numbers in our guides are worth trusting.

How a Review Gets Written

01
LOAD THE GAME — NO PROMO MATERIAL FIRST
Before reading anything about the game, I play 100 demo spins cold. This is the closest approximation to a first-time player experience. I note the pacing, what features appear, and whether the bonus frequency matches the stated hit rate.
02
VERIFY THE STATED SPECS
I check the game's paytable for RTP, volatility rating, and max win. I compare this against the developer's official documentation where available. For Hacksaw Gaming titles, their public game sheets list all RTP variants — I cross-reference these.
03
EXTENDED DEMO SESSION — MINIMUM 400 SPINS
I run at least 400 base game demo spins and document: wins per spin (empirical hit rate), bonus triggers, average base game win size. For Fist of Destruction, I tracked 600 spins across three sessions. Empirical hit rate was 33–36%, consistent with the 34% spec.
04
BUY FEATURE TESTING (WHERE APPLICABLE)
If a game has a buy feature, I test it in demo mode across at least 20 triggers. I record: how quickly the bonus reaches its high-variance phase, typical win range, and whether the RTP claimed for the buy matches the experience. This isn't statistically definitive at 20 samples, but it's a meaningful benchmark.
05
COMPETITOR COMPARISON
I compare the slot against its closest mechanical peers — games with similar RTP, volatility, and core feature. For Fist of Destruction, the relevant comparisons are Chaos Crew 2 (similar hit frequency), Wanted Dead or a Wild (similar volatility tier), and Cursed Seas (same expanding wild mechanic).
06
WRITE WHAT I ACTUALLY THINK
I have a scoring system but I don't hide behind it. If a game is boring to play or the buy feature is poor value, I say so directly. The affiliate relationship with casinos doesn't change the analysis — it changes which casinos I recommend at the end, not what I say about the game.

How We Score Games

GRAPHICS & THEME

Visual quality, animation smoothness, theme coherence. Does it look good at mobile resolution?

RTP & FAIRNESS

Default RTP vs industry average (96%). Variance between versions. Transparency of the paytable.

BONUS QUALITY

How often bonuses trigger naturally. Whether they deliver meaningful variance. Buy feature value.

WIN POTENTIAL

Max win reachability. Multiplier mechanics. Whether the stated max win is achievable in practice.

BASE GAME DEPTH

Is the base game interesting, or is it just filler between bonuses? Hit frequency and pacing matter here.

MOBILE EXPERIENCE

Button sizing, load speed, portrait mode layout. Most players are on mobile — this matters.
